Pure communication for maturity in business
expression of authenticity in todays business is confused with creating a simple image of your work or inventing unique product. On the road to business success we forgot that being authentic is a state where you have nothing to hide, where calculations and convincing are not needed. Your work and its presentation reflect exactly whom do you think you are at the moment. Pure communication is happening between authentic individuals who dont need to prove anything to each other because everything is at the table anyway. Then every word matters when you communicate exactly what you mean.
The world of business communication is full of rules and proved to be successful marketing techniques orbehaviours. We supply information about qualifications, product and people knowledge, testimonials and all sorts of staff to create credibility and trust. We believe that if someone trusts us then the sale will naturally follow. By conditioning in such a way the simple exchange of money, products and services, our communication became a highly competitive game of proving constantly that we are trustworthy and we are saying the truth.
As a result of our hide and seek activities we pollute our communication with sophisticated language. Its purpose on the surface is proving our reliability and hiding the desire to accumulate sales. We invent thousands of incentives and bribes to attract customers trough payoffs, cash backs and special prices. We force cleverly a sale by asking the right questions. We guarantee the future by long term contracts. We approach prospective clients in tailor made way by coaching them to understand their needs. We personalize our e-mail communication by addressing with their first name people we dont know etc.
Selling became a bad word because we are all tired of hiding the truth with polite aggressiveness. We are killing each other softly with competitiveness, ambition to dominate and advertising exclusive products to satisfy non-existing needs. And we do all that with positive smile and strong eye contact.
Why do we want to hide our natural desire to create wealth trough our work? It seams illogical. Probably there is something else we are trying to hide by wearing our well developed and carefully groomed business personality, i.e. mask.
